The Regrets
"You Are Not The Last Scholar" from
New Directions, Results Beat Boasts
[2.6MB mp3]

The Regrets were born and bred in Topeka: a town known as the trailer park capitol of Kansas.

As kids, They worshipped the Beatles, and as adolescents they aped Sebadoh and My Bloody Valentine. The trio has been playing together since junior high school and under their previous name,Vitreous Humor, gained some infamous recognition from the music industry.

The Regrets is a more mature Vitreous Humor. It's sound is minimal. Guitar has become an additional rhythm. It possesses an amazing tone. It is not a wall to hide behind. Lyrics are consciously created, no longer tossed off. Bass lines provide strong, beautiful melodies held together not only by 'standard' rhythms, but also samba and lounge beats.

They capture "post-punk" of the far West, quiet melancholy of "fuck me I'm sensitive" '70s folk, dance rhythm of South America, sweater rock of Boston and Lower East Side narcotic flippancy.
